About ASCOA

Building Stronger Communities Through Action

Established in 2014 and headquartered in Buea, Cameroon, the Association for Community Awareness (ASCOA) is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with offices in the USA, UK, and Kenya.

Our mission is to improve the quality of life for underserved communities by promoting sustainable development, environmental protection, health education, women's empowerment, child support, peace-building, and assistance to displaced populations.

How We Fight for Communities

From protecting coastlines to empowering women and building peace, our programs address the most pressing challenges facing communities in Cameroon and beyond.

Beach Cleanup & Marine Conservation

Since 2018, we have mobilized over 1,470 volunteers to remove nearly a million items of marine debris from Cameroon's Limbe-Idenau coastline.

Waste Management

Promoting sustainable waste management practices through community-based recycling programs and infrastructure development.

Education & Research

Integrating marine debris education in schools and conducting research to inform policy decisions on plastic pollution.

Health Education

Providing critical HIV/AIDS awareness, menstrual hygiene education, and sexual health programs to underserved communities.

Women & Girls Empowerment

Empowering women and girls through skills training, reproductive health education, and leadership development.

Peace Building

Fostering peace and reconciliation in conflict-affected communities through dialogue, mediation, and the Peace Crane initiative.
